The Damn Yankee (3 doz Sampler)
Now, we're a little biased, but we think the best oysters in the world are grown right here in New England (to be specific, here in Duxbury and a few miles south on Cape Cod...but mostly here in Duxbury). We'd like the opportunity to prove that to you, so we've assembled a dozen each of some of the best bivalves we know of, grown by some of the best farmers we know of.
The Damn Yankee (Sampler) contains three (3) dozen oysters:
Island Creeks hailing from Duxbury, MA With a highly segmented flavor profile, these are the quintessential East Coast oysters. Strong salinity up front gives way to vegetal, mossy, buttery flavors of eel grass and seaweed which crescendo into a robust, sweet finish. It doesn't get any better than this.
Spring Creeks from Barnstable, MA Scott Laurie’s lease is the absolute closest to the mouth of Spring Creek. This means they have a beautifully delicate and mild flavor. Its a big lease that he shares with other family members, so they are planted a very low density. They also get first dibs on all of the best nutrients the creek has to offer, so they have thick shells and great meat texture.
Peter Points from Onset, MA We were blown away by the blast of salty water that comes with the first taste of these deep-cupped oysters. After the salt comes a mild, grassy flavor and at the very end, a faint hint of sweetness. Dennis and Bob grow these oysters on the bottom close to Buzzards Bay in Onset, MA.
